From 1994 to the present, she has been conducting evaluations of functionality of agro-food resources, their industrialization, and research on their healing effects at the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences.​

Youn-Lee Oh, Senior scientist, majored in Biotechnology at Korea University. 

Since 2011 until now, she has been responsible for breeding Agaricus bisporus, Hypsizygus marmoreus, and Ganoderma lucidum at the National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science, Mushroom Division."

Dr. Lee, a researcher of the National Institute of Crop Science, received a Ph.D. in natural products chemistry from Gyeongsang National University's Department of Agricultural Chemistry, and has been conducting research on the quality and functionality of food crops since 2008.

Choi Hong Min majored in agricultural chemistry at Gyeongsang National University and earned a master's degree in natural product chemistry. 

Currently, he works as an agricultural researcher at the Apiculture Division of the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences and is conducting research related to efficacy and quality management using bee products.

This lecture briefly introduces the types and effects of bee products, and explains the background, major results, and ripple effects of improving immune and antiviral functions of chestnut honey among bee products.​

Kim Dea-wook earned his Ph.D in Applied Biochemistry from Tsukuba University in Japan. 

He has been conducting research in the field of crop cultivation & physiology as a researcher at the Rural Development Administration(RDA) since 2008. Currently, he is researching grain functionality improvement and cultivation techniques in response to climate change at the National Institute of Crop Science.

This lecture will introduce research results on cultivation techniques that enhance the immune activity of naked oats. 

In particular, it will explain how the content of avenanthramide, a high-functioning antioxidant component of oat grains, varies depending on the sowing time, and the research findings on the enhancement of immune activity of the grains due to the increased ripening temperature of oats sown in spring.​

The first presentation introduces the results of in vitro and in vivo tests on the menopausal improvement effect of oat hull extract. The osteoporosis preventive effects of domestically developed oat husk extracts by suppressing osteoclast differentiation and promoting osteoblast differentiation, changes in estrogen hormones ER-α and ER-β, bone density enhancement as a result of mouse experiments, changes in body temperature and weight, and changes in organ weight such as the uterus were investigated. At this time, estradiol was used as a positive control.

The second presentation introduces the results of confirming the antibacterial effect of corn leaf extract against the causative bacteria of periodontitis and the osteoblast formation effect. Corn leaf extract, an agricultural by-product, was treated with S. mutans, S. sobrinus or P. gingivalis bacteria. Corn leaf extract inhibited the growth of fungi and showed an osteoblast formation effect in cells. In addition, the periodontitis improvement effect was verified in a periodontitis model caused by ligation of the maxillary molars in C57BL/6 mice.​

Dr. Shanmugam has more than 20 years of experience in designing and development of conventional,

NDDS/alternate, advanced/modified drug delivery systems, and pharmaceutical platform technologies for oral and other routes of administration. His expertise includes stability, solubility/dissolution, permeability, and bioavailability enhancement techniques/technologies for challenging drugs. 

Additionally, Dr. Shanmugam has published numerous research articles, holds multiple patents, and is a reviewer/editorial member of various prestigious journals. In his current position, Dr. Shanmugam is involved in the development and expansion of Adare's pharmaceutical technology portfolio and facilitates product development and co-development opportunities.

The unpleasant taste is the biggest barrier for completing therapy in pediatric population because of their natural heightened taste sensitivity and aversion to bitter or unpleasant drugs. The taste masking of bitter or unpleasant drugs has demonstrated to improve the compliance up to 90% in pediatrics. So, taste masking of bitter drugs is crucial to improve medication acceptance and adherence in pediatrics. This presentation will discuss the significance of taste masking in pediatrics and various strategies of taste masking. Additionally, Adare's coacervation or phase separation process, one of the efficient taste masking technologies (Microcaps®), will be discussed in detail with pediatric-friendly ease-to-swallow dosage formats for application of taste masked multiparticulates.
